Historic Sites and Scenic Areas - Iron County

Lund, Utah

From Modena Canyon Road is another dirt road heading east. Following along the railroad tracks going east you will reach Beryl Town in about 10 miles.

Another way to get to Lund is by going to Beryl Junction. Beryl Junction is about 12 miles east of Modena, Utah on State route 56. Travel north on highway 18 about 20 miles passing Beryl Town along the way.
It is a well-traveled road paved for about 8 miles.

This is now a serene town site but was once a major stopping point for the Union Pacific Railroad. It was important in providing a connecting Iron County to the outside world. For many years it was a popular tourist spot. Travelers from around the world came to Lund, Utah.

The Utah Parks Camping would run tours via open-air buses to the National Parks from here. Then a new railroad line into Cedar City, Utah was built in 1923. The boomtown of Lund, Utah subsequently lost ground in popularity.
