Historic Sites and Scenic Areas - Iron County

Ghost Towns

Gold Springs and State Line
While in Modena, Utah - See the nearby ghost towns of Stateline and Gold Springs. Both are early boomtowns where gold and silver were sought and fought over. Some mining in this area still exists today.

Gold Springs - Between mile marker 6 and 7 on State route 56 west of Modena, Utah. Watch for the turn off to Gold Springs mine.
The ruins and mines can still be seen.

BEWARE!!! Old shafts are still opened and are dangerous.
Use caution when in the remote area for emergency help is a long ways away.
NEVER!!! Enter an opened shaft.

Stateline - Take the Modena Canyon Road north of Hamblin Valley and go to the Old mining town of State Line. It is a few miles north of the paved road and a nice area for exploration, camping, hiking, and interesting views. Recreational, home sites, and land sales are available in this area.
