Water

The quality of under ground water in the Beryl, Utah and Enterprise area are good, with some small areas of poorer quality. Most water has a low sodium content, except for an area north of Newcastle, which has geothermal sources. The area has a few water ponds, springs, and hot water pools.

Agriculture

This land of Escalante Valley is primarily used for the production of alfalfa, small grains, corn silage, potatoes and pastures. Some of the alfalfa hay, potatoes, wheat and barley are fed to livestock.
Wells, drawing water from underground water supplies, give the local farmers, crops, and animals, plenty of water.
The dry lands of the Escalante Valley have winter wheat, sage brush, rye grass, and many other types of vegetation.

Mining - Collecting

In the Escalante Valley areas you can find silver, copper and Beryl Rock Stones loose, along with many Indian arrowheads, and remnants of the Old West. At State Line mine, Gold Springs and the Modena areas, gold has been found. There are many minerals in the soil including The Red Beryl Stones.
Hamblin Valley has several deserted townships, mines, and homesteads north of Modena.
There is a silver mine by Beryl Junction. One of the largest in the nation at one time. Underground tunnels were built to do the mining.

The Iron mines west of Cedar City supply iron ore for the Geneva Steel Corporation. Kennecott Copper has interest

The Escalante Valley and Enterprise, Utah are located in the west part of Iron County.
South of Enterprise is the city of Saint George, Utah which is located in Washington County.
