A new $32 million hospital, built by Intermountain Health Care - IHC sits on nealry 23 acres and will allow for expansion projects later without disrupting the hospital functions or its patients.

The new hospital in Cedar City is about 113,000 square feet, has the latest medical equipment , and 42 beds, all in private rooms. The rooms have sleeper sofas so family members can spend the nights too.
It will be able to care for premature babies instead of sending them to other facilities. Also, a diagnostic center, where all procedures from blood samples to X-rays can be performed.

The new hopital will bring southwest Utah a higher level of health care and many new jobs. Employment at the hospital will increase from about 250 employees now to nearly 340, including 40 physicians.
Built to serve over 22,000 residents of the Cedar City area, it will increase the local economy by nearly $53 million a year, according to reports.

The new hospital was built to replace the aged hospital accross town. The Old Hospital served the Cedar City area since 1964 and was only about 65,000 square feet.
Another new IOC hospital is in St. George some 55 miles south on I-15.
